1. UNRWA, UN's boots on the ground in Gaza, were accused by the IDF of being part of the Oct 7 attack and had their funding retired by most of the EU who promptly had to eat their words when the IDF was unable to produce any proof.

  2. It's a pretty common tactic to label anyone that may pose a threat to what you're trying to do as the enemy. Even if they're neutral or simply caught up in the gears of history by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

  3. I'm not american and that is probably why this flabbergast me, but did this person seriously get the oppertunity to pay for his freedom while charged of a serious and despicable crime which he knows likely would be a death sentence if he lands in prison for it?

  4. If he was a private citizen and not a former officer he most certainly would not have gotten bail. I personally can't understand the logic.

  5. I was drug tested and had to do a background check to stock shelves at a grocery store. This is fucking insane.

  6. Well government employees are actually protected by the 4th amendment unlike us plebs in the private sector. It'll never not be insane that it's been that way since I wanna say 1989.

  7. Yes, but just being against Israel isn’t necessarily antisemitic.

  8. To clarify, everyone who is an antisemite detests the Israel policy, but not everyone who detests Israel's policy because of the death and destruction is an antisemite.

  9. One of the biggest mistakes the US made after the Cold War was downsizing the number of shipyards for the Navy. As ships become older or more complicated, the amount of time they have to spend in a dock increases. This also prevents them from building new ships. In addition to limited coastal real-estate, we lost much the skilled labor needed to operate and maintain the industry. That alone will take close to a generation to replenish.

  10. Are ships outdated tho? If a Submarine that costs significantly less than a Destroyer can sink said Destroyer. It would almost be better not to even have the ship in the first place. To not waste man hours, money, and resources.

  11. Ah yes the forefront of science that brought us the dark age.

  12. Actually the Goths taking down the Western Roman Empire is what brought on 'a dark age' for western Europe.

  13. Iran used to be America's greatest friend in that region, even more so than Israel up until about the 70s. Maybe I'm optimistic but I always think it's like they're so close to being a more tolerant country.

  14. He had a bit of a political crisis of faith since Trump was a real monkey paw curls moment for Dan, he finally got the political outsider he was asking for, only for him to be nothing like he had hoped.

  15. Also said that he doesn't know what's going on because the way his brain works he needs historical references and it may be cliche but we are in unprecedented times.

  16. The way I'm imagining it would be something like the revolution of drone warfare and the conflicts they were used for in the early 21st century.

  17. China.. oh how does it not surprise me. They got caught at Boeing doing the same thing then bitched like little children when they were called out for it. China bans tik tok in their own country then cry when it's banned in the states?? Sorry China. The GOP has already been bought out by putin and his flock. We don't need to stealing every design from companies to have 8 year old build in a dark hole in the ground.

  18. North Korea fires off missiles all the time. As well nuclear ones for tests. Too bad when they do that don't tell people ahead of time or follow guidelines for tests. Which is irresponsible and reckless.

  19. 'Free speech' is a spurious talking point here:

  20. Yeah people need to understand the Chinese government is intimately tied to all their big businesses. They have final say in how a corporation behaves and what it does.

  21. Something I am often wondering about is how many of their delivery systems are still working. It's one thing to maintain the warheads but you also have to maintain the silos and ballistic missiles. For context, the US spends roughly $75 billions per year on its nuclear capabilities. Russias total military budget for 2020 was $61 billion in total. I somehow have doubts that they can launch a lot of them simultaneously before we will completely obliterate them. Remember when Russia performed a test launch of a ballistic missile in the beginning of the war to show strength? They only launched one and it blew up on the launch pad.

  22. How many nukes does a country need to defeat another nation? At the height of the Soviets stockpile they had enough nukes to target every midsized city in the U.S.

  23. If you think americans are scared of Iraq, you are silly. What people are worried about is another forever war in Iraq, or in Iran or wherever the hell the US has their eyes set. Because it's obvious something is going on and western countries are preparing for some type of war somewhere.

  24. Well to be fair ever since the end of the 2nd World War, the U.S. military has been tasked with being prepared for 2 full scale wars in 2 different regions of the planet at once.

  25. Shocking. Actually it isn't. You can buy scientific studies and conclusions for just about anything if you have the money. I mean there's a whole industry that runs on advocacy science.

  26. The antisemites and Trump's people made a circle on the venn diagram.

  27. The ironic thing is they're screamimg 'Jewish people will not replace us' while holding torches made in China, who are in fact the people that did replace them in alot of the workforce.

  28. It's a pay to play system. If you're not sending money to the people in government on the side, then you don't have a voice.

  29. Usually I'm against subsidizing the world's military but I think it is the countries national interest to help Urkraine If only to weaken Russia, whos governments have been historic adversaries to this nation.

  30. I think giving in to fear of threats is the wrong move. Like at a certain point we all have to understand there are inherent risks with using our freedoms to talk and say things that everyone might not agree on.

  31. If you are making jokes about this, you are a fucking asshole and should be absolutely ashamed of yourself. The fuck is wrong with some of you?

  32. Lol I've been on fire before got severely burned, induced into a coma for months, and had about 5 years of skin grafts and surgeries. So maybe I just have pretty thick skin to laugh at the dumb jokes and not cry.

  33. "Nearby, a pamphlet was visible that referred to "evil billionaires" and called on people to "expose this corruption."" This is what I was able to find in the article so far.

  34. Jeez, it's true that we have a pay to play system when it comes to government, that's just how it's evolved.

  35. The trick is that so much of how our society works expects people, especially in the higher levels of power, to just do the correct thing. This is why he was especially dangerous as president. The base assumption that are rules are built on is that people wouldn't pick a criminal since that would be a crazy thing to do. Similar things are playing out here. Trying to pay a bond without following any of the rules is insane and without much precedent, so the system grinds to a halt when it happens.

  36. That's true alot of it is built on convention and precedent, however the power of the Presidency has grown wildly in the past 40 or 50 years.

  37. While they are really the same word, I prefer to call myself nonreligious. It elicits less hate in my experience.

  38. I'm a religion of one is how I look at it. Like I live by a broad spectrum of moral philosophies that make sense to me like Natural Law, looking for balance as in Taoism, acknowledging suffering as in Buddahism, and trying my best to not be an asshole.

  39. Now if only we could protect our bodily fluids from employers too. Retake back some of our 4th amendment protections that have been lost.

  40. Looking for reasons? After about a decade of record profits and record layoffs in the gaming industry alone, they don't seem to need any reasons. They just say they are restructuring, balk on their promises and lay everyone off over zoom.

  41. I thing a big issue for the U.S. and tech specifically is that we went from an agrarian economy, to a manufacturing economy, to a service/creative economy, and AI seems very poised to really upset the creative/service economy.

  42. This feels like Israel is dead set on provoking a full fledged war against west asia aka the middle east just to pull in U.S. forces. They had a perfect moment where both sides could claim victory but yet they're choosing to escalate.

  43. I would rather die in a nuclear blast than live in world run by gullible buffoons like you, who think there's any chance at negotiating an honest deal with Putin. You're neither wise nor levelheaded. You're acting on fear and the things you're calling for won't work and will only lead to more war in the long run.

  44. Diplomacy can be a wonderful weapon if used correctly. I wouldn't immediately discount it as not working. Take using open force as an option off the table and try to solve the problem at hand. There are more ways to solve things then the most obvious.

  45. That's entirely false. In fact Bill Clinton had quite a few Republicans during his time as president.

  46. That’s actually literally the case being debated. A lower court held that cities can’t make laws against sleeping outdoors unless the city provides homeless shelters with enough space for all. A city in Oregon is challenging that ruling; the Supreme Court is deciding whether municipalities should be able to make the determination for themselves. At least that’s what I’m reading; IANAL.

  47. I've been homeless for a time. On my own since 16 and I do hate that people assume that something has to be wrong with you if you don't want to be tethered to a house or apartment.

  48. The offense wasn't the problem for the most part last year. It was the defense and special teams.

  49. Idk a wildcat play on 4th and less than a yard is getting cute for cutesake. You gotta call plays that your offense is confident in executing. What looks good on paper may not be good on the field.
