There are only certain industries that can accept gratuities based on PCI and credit card brand standards, and if this store he was in does not fall into one of those categories, then the kiosk is not intended to ask for a gratuity.

I would much rather die from starvation than live in constant balance between not fed enough to live but just fed enough to survive.
