Who would’ve known this? What 90 day clock…? They just straight up said no this is a stock split, not a split as a dividend. There is no 90 days to get you your shares as a dividend, the distribution has been made as just a regular split

If the reported SI is manipulated on GME and could be on any stock, it would seem this is a voluntary display. So why would they want to show over 100% short interest if not to entice a ‘short squeeze’?
If we believe that the short interest reported for GME isn’t accurate and the real SI is being hidden - why would they decide to show that the SI of bbby is now over 100%? If they can do the same thing to any stock, and have not shown real SI on GME, they’re voluntarily showing their hand here.
TD Ameritrade, USA. Spoke with them and they informed me they’re treating this as a regular split and the shares in my account are not in the form of a dividend as such. Wouldn’t give any further info as the discrepancy between what they’re doing, and what gamestop filed. Said to ask gamestop

There's far more than a "handful of examples". Try searching
You and him may be coming up with two different numbers for what you define as rare. If 200 out of the last 1000 stock splits are in the form of a dividend, that’s still a rare event. The point is that it’s not the typical way a stock split is distributed. And it isn’t to say that stock brokers should be expected to be unprepared to handle it. But like he’s saying.. this is the first time this has ever happened where there is mass public scrutiny over an event like this, they may have had problems with them in the past, no broker has ever been in the spotlight like this in history. So maybe there’s been issues, we’ve just not heard anything of them.

We already have a "speculation/opinion" flair for this reason. I'm happy to take this to the team for you but I don't personally believe this will do much good. We spent a ton of time a while back trying to reduce all the flairs in order to make sorting more efficient.

Wow. I didn’t fully comprehend what kind of outcome this could have. Reading about DeFi but never looking far enough to recognize that we’re actually looking at having fully decentralized exchange. DeFi has sort of been this buzz word that I’ve glazed over, while also knowing it means ‘ decentralized finance ‘ But to think that we can make trades and exchange while maintaining full ownership of private keys, never leaving your wallet and being able to swap within a wallet. What a leap we’re about to make
