1. Quite possibly, I read it as though they were expecting their preceptorship to be hand holding +++

  2. I completely agree! Being a registered nurse with your own patients is so different to being a 3rd year student with a cohort of patients to ā€œmanageā€. The level of responsibility can be very overwhelming, have left late quite a few times now my supernumerary period has ended šŸ„“

  3. Number 1 for sure. Iā€™ve just made a similar decision and went with number 1. Iā€™m fully supported as a NQN, have had adequate supernumerary period, training, shadowing etc. Itā€™s not what role I want long term but whilst Iā€™m a NQN I wanted the support

  4. Forgot to put the commode liner in the commode, woman proceeds to wee and poo all over the floor, drs walk in to do their round with me and my colleague in utter despair because she wonā€™t stop weeing.

  5. You should wear them to prevent venous leg ulcers and varicose veins. One of the risk factors for venous leg ulcers is spending long hours on your feet during your career.

  6. 2020- I had 3 miscarriages and my dog died during Covid. Surely canā€™t get worse!!

  7. 12.5 hour shifts with 1 hour (2 x 30 mins) unpaid break.

  8. Not really, I just ask the other nurses or use the bnf or google. Iā€™m NQ for a month. I ran into one the other day the nurses were calling keppra which I know is an anti-seizure drug, but she was prescribed levetiracetam which I had no idea what that was. Turns out itā€™s the non-brand name but I just asked what it was and they told me. Any drugs you donā€™t know you should find out what it is before you give it anyway.

  9. Thanks for posting the link, I found it super useful reading about and actually understanding the NHS pension!

  10. I wasnā€™t allowed to do venepuncture or cannulation as a student. For my proficiencies, I watched the process a few times with nurses/doctors, did some research on it ie best practice, the process, the risks etc and then had a discussion with my assessor to get signed off. Most trusts require you to do training even once qualified to perform these skills.

  11. Had the same, even after a mist coatā€¦ I used tesa sensitive and it was perfect

  12. Motherā€™s Day in the UK and itā€™s cycle day 1. No one has text me, messaged me, called me or otherwise. Iā€™m sat at home feeling so sad and so lonely. No one from my family or friends, nor my husband has even recognised that this day will be difficult for me or even acknowledged that Iā€™m a mother. Iā€™ve had 3 miscarriages, 2 ectopics and 5 embryo losses during IVF. This fucking sucks and Iā€™m salty as hell.

  13. I spent the night in hospital after my D&C listening to the pregnant woman next to me with a fetal heart monitor all night.

  14. I donā€™t want kids, I never have. Iā€™m a woman in my late 30s if that makes a difference. People in my life seem to be split in thirds:

  15. You forgot child free not by choice šŸ„² Iā€™m one of 3 girls, my two sisters donā€™t want children and of course I am the one who does so Iā€™m infertile šŸ«

  16. Turns out itā€™s not chipped thankfully! Still no idea what it is in my knee though šŸ˜‚

  17. Got a physio appt at my GP on Tuesday, going to ask for a referral for an X-ray to see if it is chipped. Certainly feels like it could be a piece of bone. Iā€™ll look into workers comp, thanks for the suggestions.

  18. Never heard of a trauma mask. Non-rebreath masks are essential in emergencies though so you should know where they are if there is an emergency (usually around the bed space) and it is pretty diabolical if you donā€™t know where that one is. Iā€™m assuming youā€™re talking about where to refill it from though šŸ¤žšŸ»šŸ¤žšŸ» not as essential but should be checking and able to refill emergency equipment if needed.

  19. She knew where the NRBM were she didn't know what a trauma mask was

  20. ā€œAre non-rebreather masks and trauma masks the same thing?

  21. What led you to steal them? Was it CDs? How did you get found out? Did you get any criminal charges? Did you take (consume) the drugs at work or take them home with you?

  22. Disgustingly brilliant! Worth watching to the end for those two blackheads too!

  23. Iā€™m still here 4.5 years onā€¦ fml šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

  24. Iā€™m so sorry. Is your cat coping ok?

  25. Yea heā€™s okay, we have another dog and two other cats so heā€™s got company. They did have a special bond though. Loki was a puppy and Vince (cat) was about 6 when we got Loki

  26. WTH thatā€™s so creepy! Glitch or lag Iā€™d imagine
