1. They’ll weekend at Bernie’s his corpse before they allow a Democrat to replace him.

  2. I wonder if she realized the irony of her refusal to step down a decade ago directly influenced the complete undoing of her own legacy

  3. Like the other poster said, a general Google/wiki search should be pretty fruitful and there's interesting variations across East and Southeast Asia.

  4. Just want to quickly say that you are definitely a very talented athlete if you could run sub 4:50 without specifically training running. On my team back when I ran, we’d often get a soccer player join us for the spring season and discover that, while they were good soccer athletes, they actually had enough potential for running to compete at national level events. You should be proud of that time.

  5. soccer players are definitely going to be in good shape but running sub 5 without training for running is not common at all.

  6. But, they are training. That was my whole point. Soccer conditioning has a lot in common with track distance training, down to regular fast interval workouts and strides.

  7. Another reminder that you can't eat at everyone's house

  8. Would not recommend The Cooking Gene. Zero recipes - he even states that he was withholding one specifically because it was proprietary to him. Also, the book references his father and father's side of the family throughout, to show how his personal history parallels the theme in the book. Then, about 75% of the way through the book, he mentions that not only did he not talk to his dad in writing the book, but he hadn't spoken to him at all for more than a decade.

  9. I mean, I've heard the criticism about the stuff with his father, though I haven't read the book, but also as someone who willingly hasn't spoken to my father in 20-21 years, but whose life is still informed by what I went through with my father, I can't fault Twitty if there was some big falling out, but still wanting to highlight that side

  10. The book teased information throughout that would have come from direct interviews with his dad's side of the family. But...he just never did it and then copped out 75% of the way through that he didn't actually know anything or try to find anything out. Pretty ridiculous, considering the premise of the novel, and almost as insulting as the "proprietary" bbq recipe.

  11. Ok I truly despise his content but in his defence, he looks fit enough. The picture is unflattering, but people can be healthy without looking like they’re a week out from a physique contest.

  12. Amazing how quick people are to jump in and body shame someone who literally is average to slightly more fit than the average 30 year old

  13. Anthony absolutely would have been against what is happening. I hate when people use someone’s name like that to try and further their own agenda that is so obviously opposite the deceased’s. Like go have your own opinion on your own personal page, but leave others’ names out of it who cannot speak for themselves.

  14. He was pretty staunchly against Hezbollah and Hamas as well, so can imagine he would have just felt terrible for the civilians stuck in the middle.

  15. To be fair she probably spends at least $100K on food and equipment and that’s before taxes. So take home maybe $500K. Still a dream job for sure - really an eyeroll to hear the mental health complaints when millions of poor people break their backs with multiple PITA shit pay jobs.

  16. She had a placental abruption in the second trimester. While she technically had to have an abortion to deal with it, there's not a lot of difference between that and a miscarriage. It would still have killed her and her baby. It's just easier to say to the press "I had a miscarriage" when it's that late in the pregnancy, given how crazy people get about abortion, regardless of if it is obviously medically indicated. I get why she said it was a miscarriage and don't think she's awful because she had to frame it that way to the press.

  17. Yeah, can't fault someone at all for not wanting to broadcast every detail of a traumatic and personal event to the entire internet.

  18. They both seem to need to be the loudest and most opinionated person in the room lol

  19. Tbh this is representative of how sad the state or journalism is right now. The entire "article" is the author trying to set up pithy one liners to dunk on tieghan.

  20. You were claiming that in a pool of thousands of athletes it wouldn't have an impact. This is an absurdly large impact, with athletes at 200+h schools impacted, hence the need for proper rules.

  21. Elton John wrote almost none of the lyrics to his songs.

  22. But he wrote the music. Beyonce does neither, so she's not at all comparable to the above comment about T-Pain quietly writing country songs, which was my point.

  23. She's gotten called out by multiple songwriters for claiming credits on songs she contributed nothing to.

  24. Sour and bitter aren't products of the same roast levels of coffee.

  25. In my experience, most regular cafes (Herman's included) pull pretty bad shots, so the sour/bitter is just the result of over/under-extraction.

  26. So this is pretty common in high-end middle class centennial houses. The stone threshold is to show off you got a lil money.

  27. Only do this after confirming there's no asbestos containing materials underneath. Spending a little bit of money now >>> meeting ACM all over your house

  28. Exercise-induced proteinuria (specifically, not rhabdo) is

  29. I said "ya'll,' why did you choose to interpret that as "You" here? Do you think maybe there could have been a broader connotation intended? No of course it has to be an unhinged personal attack 🤡

  30. I'm not sure if taking most of the rock away helped either. I know rock nationally isn't as big these days, but Philly is still huge for rock. The artist mix just seemed really unappealing compared to earlier years of the festival.

  31. Yeah, I posted elsewhere in this thread about this as well. In the early years, you had very different groups of people who might buy tickets to Day 1 or 2 based on the main stage lineup, as well as people who want to see it all.

  32. I mean, ideally. One thing my editors always told me when I reported on those tourism numbers is to be skeptical. They wildly inflate them, when it’s actually a lot harder to establish a true economic impact.

  33. The city gets a cut of hotels and airbnbs, aside from the myriad smaller independent hotels or franchises.

  34. I've enjoyed Wilder recently, and they accept reservations for brunch. Parc is also a classic choice, though super busy

  35. Just read through your prior posts on this. It's hilarious to me that basically as soon as they soured you on the culture and upper management generally (who they said aren't being "respected enough") and got you close to true dgaf, they pulled an uno reverse and pegged you as upper management material.

  36. Yes we're, but I won't disclose the team or a company. It isn't an easy job though. Managers want something adjusted every day and as they don't have a picture of what or why they want it you're just redoing every dashboard from the ground several times before all managers and step-managers are happy.

  37. Damn, you are red and nude about a white guy who said some extremely racist and homophobic shit suffering consequences for his actions. That sucks

  38. How's your stand-up career going? Disappointing to see Good Good was a COVID casualty here in Philly

  39. My kid has been going to Paris since she was an infant. It totally is kid friendly. Of course there wil be things that aren't necessarily but there is plenty to do with little kids. Your strategy of one thing per day and wing the rest is perfect. Jardin d'acclimatation would be great for them and cité des sciences also I think ( although it may not be good for under 2). There are lits of parks. Do a river cruise and just walk around.

  40. What did you do, transportation-wise, when she was an infant? The metro is a no-brainer, but did you bring a travel stroller or just carry/wear?

  41. Thanks! I’ll give it a read after I finish Shogun. Have you read Adelstein’s other book, The Last Yakuza?

  42. FYI - adelstein comes across as a self-aggrandizing prick, and there was very little in the way of fact-checking most of the stories in that book.

  43. Sure beats having Ted Bundy as an alumni.

  44. If you look him up you'll see he went to, like, 9 universities. Regardless, he was much more successful in his chosen field than the average UO grad.
