NATO isn't that complicated to understand but majority of the public don't know much about NATO. I wrote a comment a while ago here in reddit and I will copy paste a part of it because I think it explains NATO well to people who have these views of NATO suddenly dragging its member countries into wars.

I see that you've taken the time to study the topic and to read the verbiage. I am no expert on the subject, but sometimes I see what I would call possible logical inconsistencies. It prompts me to ask certain questions. I'll pose the question that I asked myself after reading your post. IF the statement is true that there can be no "forcing" of Finland to "take any military action" THEN what is the practical utility that Finland gains by being in NATO? Wouldn't other countries logically shirk their obligations if Finland were to be attacked? Would they merely act like they do toward Ukraine? It was my understanding that the mutual defense clause for the EU is worded in a more ambiguous manner and that NATO's verbiage is more explicit. Is there not an explicit guarantee that an attack on one is an attack on all?

The trend of ultra-wealthy people owning far more than they need is a problem for average people. Compare vacant houses to the number of homeless people. The people who own these homes are wealthy to the point that they have no impetus to sell them or unlock any utility from their existence. The US housing stock is being treated like fine art or a Swiss bank account. The people who could actually use and care for these homes have no realistic way of "catching up" with the people who come from inherited wealth or who worked mediocre jobs for 40 years back when upward social mobility was a thing.

Agree with what you said except for one nitpick about it being "defensive" as a matter of axiom.  Article 5 has only been invoked once. That was in response to 9/11. If we're taking the claims of Al Qaeda being responsible on its face, the Taliban didn't really have anything to do with the attacks. There was a mission creep that occurred in Afghanistan. Instead of focusing on the Khyber Pass(where Bin Laden passed through en route to Pakistan), NATO began aggressive action against the Taliban. Chris Hedges does a better job of explaining the nuance than I can.

Don't the people who claim to have been injured deserve a modicum of respect? I'm skeptical of the unsubstantiated claims that Russia was the culprit, I'm skeptical of any attempt to politicize the incident, but I'm more than open to the idea that there exist weapons which may use directed flux, sound, drugs, particulates, or light in ways that would appear mysterious.
