I stayed at Avanti Palms Resort Hotel which was in a decent location. And was honestly dirt cheap. The hotel itself wasn't luxurious, but it was well good enough for me and my fiance, and we did enjoy our stay, and saved a lot of money staying there.

No issues with get reservations for dinner since you didnt stay with disney?
I don't know the answer to that. We just ate wherever at the parks. Did not have any issues getting into any of the restaurants we wanted to go to.
