1. I wonder if a repair cafe would be able to help you? They're usually based in libraries, so maybe try find one near you

  2. You've a few options. One being someone like CarTakeBack which it sounds like you've already tried. A second option is to ring around a few car dismantlers and see what they'll give you. Thirdly, you could try ringing a few smaller car dealers and see if it's something they'd have any interest in. But I think your best bet would be to throw it up on donedeal, mention all its issues and price it competitively. 2008 qashqai's are going for between 2-3k working. I'd price it somewhere around €1200 and let someone haggle you down to 800-1000.

  3. Your best bet is to get a touch up pen from your nearest dealer. It probably won't match 100% but it'll take the eye off of it

  4. You should be able to get the majority of the hair out with an animal hair brush. You basically just comb it through the carpet and vacuum up the pile of hair.

  5. I have a similar issue, although I retrofitted sync 3 into my 2014. I've yet to really look into it, but I'm suspecting either a faulty USB port or my DIY wiring

  6. Love the Evo. My dream is to one day import an Evo estate, but as you can imagine they're going for mad money now too.

  7. I've declared my mods, spoiler, alloys, window tints, wind deflectors, my insurance is higher because of it, shopped around recently to see if I could get a xheaper policy on renewal after it went up and sone would not quote due to the mods and online quotes shows my insurance being hundreds cheaper if I had no declared mods

  8. I've declared mods on the A5 myself. Declared Revo cold air intake and res delete exhaust modification. The premium went from 950 to 1.4k. But for me that was a no brainer as the car is fairly expensive and it's for my own peace of mind. The previous car I had, it hadn't declared any mods, while i got away for many years, every time i saw the Guards i thought they were going to pull me over just to check if i have everything declared.

  9. Did you need to get an engineers report for the exhaust mod? I wonder would either of the two companies also cover a map?

  10. I know for cars you pay VRT on the open market selling price (OMSP), rather than purchase price. I would assume bikes are similar. So even if you bought the bike for €5, you'd still pay VRT on €20k if the bike would sell for €20k.

  11. I don't think this is a wide body kit, just a standard eu spec st-line kit with a Maxton design type splitter.

  12. Stick it up on donedeal I'd say. Sometimes dealers contact you, which is a bit better than dealing with the general public and their antics.

  13. The most important thing you can do now is cancel the insurance yourself before the insurance company does. Every time you take out insurance, you're asked, "Have you ever had a policy cancelled or refused?" If you have to answer yes to this, you'll find it near impossible to get any insurance. It's very important you cancel the policy, before the insurance company does. If you cancel it, you don't have to declare that you had a policy cancelled (because technically, you didn't), if they cancel it, you have to declare the cancelled policy every time, and no insurance company will want to touch you.

  14. Murphys new homes have a great name in cork. Haven't used them myself but their prices seem reasonable for the current market. They have a load of houses in their brochure, so you basically pick from that list and they'll do planning app, etc for you. The one downside is that murphys new homes won't even discuss costs etc without you having a site already. I guess it stops timewasters contacting them. But overall, I've heard great things about murphys.

  15. I've reported "Anne Doyles" ads on YouTube about 10 times now. The first one YouTube basically replied saying " We found nothing wrong with this ad, its staying up".

  16. The second hand house market is all over the place atm. I bid on a house in Feb, that went up for sale in Nov at 375k. Between nov and Jan the asking price was reduced 10k to 365k because it was way overpriced. It eventually went sale agreed at 390k 5 months after it went on the market. So you never really know who is interested and how much money they have.

  17. I only brought cash for tips when I went. I only brought $200 in cash and once I'd gone through that I withdrew another $100 or so and that did me for the 5 days. Everything else was paid for via revolut

  18. Shouldn't be too expensive if used. Maybe €200-300ish. But if they're getting a used ignition barrel you may want to consoder getting the key, ignition barrel and drivers door lock while you're at it. It'd be a pain to have one key for the door lock and another to start the car.

  19. I'm the same this year as my car is just gone 10 years old. I was with axa for the past 2 years paying €750, then €610 and this year my renewal is over €800. Every quote I'm getting is mental, with the highest being €1400 with 3 years NCB.

  20. The dealer does have to disclose it if they're aware, but the buyer also has a responsibility to do their own due diligence when buying a used car.

  21. Yeah, I'm aware the dealer must disclose any issues they know of. My point was that the buyer should also do their own checks when buying a used car and no solely rely on the dealers honesty.

  22. If you're set on scrapping it, you could use someone like cartakeback. We got €500 ish when we scrapped an old car we had.

  23. Given that it has 180k miles on it, it'll probably keep motoring on for another while if you choose to repair it. Weigh up the cost of selling your current car and buying the same one again (without the issues) vs just repairing your current car. It doesn't sounds like there's any major issues with it, so I'd be inclined to say keep her motoring on for as long as you can.

  24. I believe you need to unclip the plastic surround and pull it and gear knob boot up to get access to the underneath of the gear knob. I think it might have a bolt underneath it, bit I'm open to correction.
