1. Not to sound like a snob, but I think it's because a lot of people are just unaware of the tradition these days, particularly if they're not frequent classical music listeners.

I'm certainly not in favor of all the political correctness in the ads, and in the military in general, but as someone who is neurodivergent and is in the military myself, I do think it's time to stop treating that as something that makes someone unable to serve. The military treats too many things as disqualifiers for service.

  5. Unlike other commenters, I'm not opposed to the death penalty. But I take issue with the idea that it's cheaper. It's a long, drawn out process, and as the other commenter said, appeals are expensive.
