I’m confused when people discuss this and I wonder if Taylor is as well. The US was rightfully neutral for most of WWII until Japan attacked the United States and Japan’s European allies declared war on the US. I don’t think he is saying that he would be opposed to the US declaring a defensive war on Japan after Pearl Harbor. Do people not realise that the United States was attacked and only ended its neutrality at that point?

He may have said this before, but his probable response would be saying our oil embargo on Japan in response to their atrocities in China justified Pearl Harbor.
