1. It is definitely a repair. Its probably brazed considering the bronze color. Whether or not you got ripped off depends upon how much you paid for it. It may be a useable pan but it won't have much value.

  2. I have a 1990 tbi engine so it's not. I've only had it come on once in 7 years. It came on at 140k because the engine was running lean due to a plugged fuel filter.

  3. Wouldn’t diesel have the Duramax logo and hood scoop?

  4. Normally yes, but things happen. Body panels and badges get replaced or removed. You always need to verify what it actually is.

  5. I had a pair of 29acf that were quite stiff from new. I spent a few hours opening and closing them to break them in while I was doing other things. They never have gotten to one hand operation yet even after years of occasional use. I would try out a different pair next time your dealer visits you and decide if you want to just warranty them. If all pairs are equally stiff you'll just have to break them in but if your pair is significantly stiffer than other I would ask to get them warrantied.

  6. It's looks like it shares front end parts with the checker marathon

  7. My advise as a mechanic is never own a European car outside of warranty. Repair costs on them are generally much higher than Japanese and US cars. You're upside down on the loan as you now owe more than the car is actually worth in running condition. You need to get out of the loan and sell the vehicle. You need a cheaper more reliable vehicle.

  8. What modern cars don't need these? Or is everyone driving battery-electric cars now?

  9. The answer to your question is almost all of them. Most modern spark plugs are not gappable. They come pregapped and if you try to adjust the gap you will break the electrode. They have been around for about 2 decades now but have been the norm for oems for about 5-10 years now.

  10. l couldn't say for sure but It doesn't look like a gmt400 seat to me. They have riser legs because their floor is flat from the pedals back to the rear cab wall.

  11. Why do contractors keep buying pickup trucks instead of vans?

  12. It lets them get away with avoiding a trailer when they need to haul construction waste or materials. Also provides better rearward visibility compared to vans making backing up to trailers easier when the do need them.

  13. How old are they? Side walls look pretty good, but that could just be tire dressing hiding the true condition. When tires are old they often start to crumble like that . When tires are overheated or driven over lots of sharp gravel they can wear like that too. This type of wear often happens to mud and winter tires that are pushed too hard in hot conditions as the compounds in those type of tires over heat with highway driving in summer.

  14. Honestly I wouldn't be that worried about the transfer case. They put nearly the same transfer case in much heavier trucks behind big blocks that produce about 400 ft lbs at the crank. The only difference between the light duty trucks and the heavy duty trucks is the input shaft in the transfer case.

  15. Dies in this context do not form. They cut. The material that is gone, is gone. This thread is not repairable.

  16. There are thread repair dies that push and form the material back into place instead of cut it off. To me it looks like the material is more galled with metal transfer from the nut, then completely removed. I would run a thread repair die over that and see what's actually there first before condemning the part.

  17. I have the 1/2" one (I think it's like 1300 or 1400 ft lbs), it takes crank bolts and mower blade bolts out with no issue, without having to even hold the starter or spindle nuts. I used to hate doing both of those, now I just zip them off.

  18. Just so you know that 1300 or 1400 ft lbs is not the actual torque it will put out. Those numbers are usually something like "nut busting torque". In this testing method they often torque a nut then see if the gun can still remove it. The problem with this method is it takes less force to remove a fastener than it takes to tighten it. Power tool companies like using this method because it gives them big flashy numbers they can put on the box. The other problem with the torque numbers on the boxes are none of the companies use exactly the same test so the numbers are useless for comparing across brands. The most powerful 1/2" impacts on the market only produce around 900 ft lbs of actual turning force. It unlikely we will ever see a 1/2 drive impact that actually produces those kinds of numbers because the anvil size itself is the limiting factor.

  19. Most Lighters are allowed. I'm not sure why they would confiscate them.

  20. Correct me if I’m wrong. I work on heavy equipment and the only trucks that are towed in with the driveshaft disconnect are the automatics. The engine needs to run to pump fluid through the transmission otherwise it’s dry fucking the internals. With a manual, its gears, not clutches so as long as it doesn’t magically drop into gear, everything is usually ok with leaving the shaft on

  21. It depends upon the transmission model. Most semi trucks need the drive shaft removed both manuals and automatics. There are few exceptions.

  22. Someone obtained your head light via midnight auto parts or it fell out.

  23. Well any machine can be a smoke machine if you operate it wrong enough.

  24. Phillips released the compact cassette in 1963. 30 years old is pretty old for a media format. They were still available, but by the mid 1990s cassette was on it last leg and by the mid 2000s they were all but gone, replaced by cds and digital music.

  25. You can't hardly even see out a regular diablo because the back window is so small.

  26. Your front front clip is definitely off a different truck considering the green paint. The grille probably came with it. What does the badge on the b pillar say.

  27. Why is the model of the trailer covered up? Wouldn't that allow us to look and see what the specs on this set up are.

  28. Take it to an exhaust shop and have them replace the flex pipe that broke. Welding in a solid section like that will just result in it breaking at the welds, prevent it from sealing at the flanges, or breaking the mounting bolts over time.

  29. It depends a bit upon where it is. On the hand 135 is uncomfortable for most people but on sensitive skin it's painful and can burn. Water heaters are normally set so that the max temperature at any tap is less than 120° because that is the maximum temperature that is considered safe for residential use.

  30. You probably can get the slides from your local dealer. You might be surprised by what they can get. If you don't have one call the snap-on customer service line they will be able to tell you if they are still available.

  31. I see no reason you shouldn't have the fluid changed. A pan drop and filter replacement will not hurt a transmission. The myth that a fluid exchange will cause a transmission to start slipping comes from transmissions that are already worn far beyond their usable life and are just barely limping along relying on the friction material in the old fluid to give the clutches enough grip.
