1. I broke my rib in my 2nd month training, tore a ligament or ruptured a muscle just below my knee in my 6th month, sprained my neck during an improperly executed back roll in warm-ups just 4 weeks ago, and have had numerous other small injuries to fingers, toes, ribs. So far, in my first 18mos of training, none of these seem to have permanently injured me because I take rest and do rehab. I have also now learned to take precautions.

  3. I would probably go with the Mohawk since I know it well. I've always had to go over the top with a clear to make it wearable, though. They make a ton of colors!

  4. Thank you! After looking into it more, it seems like a great product. I'll test it first on the table, but you can really just spray it on top of a finish?

  5. First, I would prep with Wax Wash, another Mohawk product. To apply the colored lacquer, I would 'dust' it on until I get to the opacity I like. Lastly, to adhere the color and to lay on a wear coat, I would use Tone Finish Clear Flat, M102-0421. I know it says flat, but it's really satin. The trick to doing it without overspray is overlap enough to keep a wet edge. This is also something you can practice on the table underside.

  6. That's exactly what I'll do. Thanks again for your help!

  7. It's the best of the lousiana style hot sauces imo (usually mild, vinegary, very thin, made with red peppers). Something about it is just better than the others. Great on any cajun food, fried fish/chicken, etc.

  8. Can someone photoshop some legs behind him so it looks like he's laying in the flowers with his heels kicked up behind him? I think it'd do good things for my conservative relatives

  9. I'd argue this is a point that made the films a bit muddy in terms of plot outlining. This isn't a huge issue in Part 1 since a lot of the nature of the prophecy is largely unexplained. Part 2 is where we saw intense deviation from the novel. The 2000 miniseries gets it far more correctly than this. Here's the line of plot that makes sense of it all:

  10. Really great summary of the major plot points in the book and how they differ from the movie. I think Villeneuve's goal, even though he is a lifelong fan of the series, wasn't to preserve but to adapt. Dune was often touted as being "impossible to adapt" to screen for various reasons, and Villeneuve wanted (and wants) to preserve what is essential about the story and world while developing some characters differently/more to better adapt the story to screen, heighten inter-character conflict, and ultimately make the story flow well and be relatable to a modern audience.

  11. Man I love this Reddit group for posts like this...thank you :)

  12. Baylor costs more than Harvard to attend (tuition and fees only, per year). $54,844 vs $54,269. A&M costs $23,100 $11,550 (it's so relatively cheap I thought that was the price for one semester). Baylor is ranked worse than A&M (academically) by a substantial margin in basically all imaginable arenas.

  13. Baylor has much smaller classes and from what I hear, just a better business school. Controversial opinion but I’ve also never really cared for the cultish culture at A&M; idk if I really want to go to every football game and learn every yell etc, which obviously isn’t a requirement but still.

  14. I didn't care about that aspect either. But it is a very practical school. Good job placement outcomes, low debt, high avg. earnings. And if you care about the academics, want to do research or whatever, A&M is a major research institution. I don't doubt Baylor has smaller classes though, it is a much smaller school. The question is if that's worth paying 4.5x more for given that the quality of the education will not be different but that Baylor gives you fewer opportunities than A&M given how huge and connected A&M is compared to Baylor. Mays business school is also consistently ranked one of the best in the nation.

  18. It's literally just reactionaries trying to somehow point to this guy's suicide and protest as an act of "terrorism" while simultaneously discounting his message by labeling him as "mentally ill".

  19. A ton of right wing sources and right wing social media are using that language. Where did I say that you'd find people saying that out loud in this comment section? The implication of the drooling liberals is they are quick to distance themselves from things like this - to the extent they end up siding with right wing sources. Even Destiny's sub is doing it. Because they're the drooling liberals I was talking about.

  20. 180lbs 6'0", I am one of the smallest adult guys at my gym. Most guys are minimum 5'11", most in the reasonably athletic 210-230lbs range. Many current or ex-military. The only guys approximately my size are the high school wrestlers who go to the adult class.

  21. Religion is definitely one of those things. Really, anything that organizes stupid people behind some idea and gives them a unified, group identity - creating an "us vs. them" mentality is incredibly dangerous. Religion, political ideology, racial ideology, etc. Whether it's Christianity, Islam, the Nazis, the KKK - just being organized and identifying an "enemy" makes these groups prone to violence and oppression (if they get power)

  25. I used to work in a kitchen at a winery that would host two weddings a weekend 7 months out of the year. I would often be responsible for portioning out the wedding cakes, as in, the couple does their thing and feeds each other the first bites, then it gets wheeled back to the kitchen to get cut and plated for the whole party.

  26. What flavors/types of wedding cake are consistently the best, in your expert opinion?

  27. They're made of corn, like cheetos, and are food grade. So the correct way to dispose of them is actually to slap some seasoning on those bad boys and enjoy them as a snack. Maybe pop them in a low oven for a while out of the box if they taste stale.
